I’m passionate about 3D and always looking for new applications and tools to explore.

This school project was done in pairs with the brief: design binoculars in the style of Braun during the Dieter Rams era.

After defining our target audience as affluent individuals using vintage binoculars for recreational sailing, we created sketches and prototypes of our product.

Since we couldn’t test real binoculars by the sea, I decided to recreate an immersive experience in Unreal Engine to simulate product usage.

Building the environment and the sea wasn’t too difficult, as there are plenty of tutorials and assets available online. The real challenge was making the VR headset’s view zoom when the virtual binoculars were raised to the eyes. Since a VR camera works differently from a standard camera, I had to find creative solutions to make it work.
